Eagles forge deciding Game 3 vs Tigers

THE GROWLING Tigers failed to close out the Philippine Collegiate Championship League after losing to UAAP rival Ateneo de Manila University, 69-70, in Game 2 of their Finals series at The Arena in San Juan Thursday afternoon.
Ahead by a point with under a minute left in the game, UST almost had the title in the bag, but Kiefer Ravena scored on a breakaway layup to steal the game and forge a winner-take-all match on Dec. 7.
Down by much as eight points in the third quarter, the Tigers unleashed a 10-0 blitz highlighted by Jeric Teng's four-point play to put UST ahead, 59-57, with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Team captain Jeric Fortuna led UST with 18 points and three assists, while center Karim Abdul and Teng added 13 and 12, respectively.
Ravena paced the Eagles with 21 points, while Greg Slaughter had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Game 3 is at 4 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
